About Friends...

Our Goal:

Friends of Southborough Recreation (FOSR) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to ensuring all residents of Southborough can come together in a healthy and positive environment by participating in quality recreation programs.

Our Work and Impact:

We know that research underscores the short and long-term benefits of physical activity and social connectedness. The benefits of bringing a community together around health and well-being opportunities are clear. To that end, for over ten years FOSR has proudly collaborated with business and community leaders to raise funds that promote and support Southborough Recreation in order to improve health, togetherness, and community spirit through recreational activities and facilities for all ages.

FOSR has provided funding to support the following recreational programs and activities that seek to improve the well-being of our residents:

  • In 2017, Southborough Recreation offered almost 650 town-wide programs and activities, including camp and after school classes serving over 2,000 residents. FOSR also provides scholarships for these programs to ensure access for all residents.

  • One example of community collaboration includes the Recreation Department partnering with Southborough Youth & Family Services in bringing free Summer Concert Series to the community. These concerts are supported in part by a grant from Southborough Cultural Arts Council

  • FOSR helps provide funding to ensure Recreation can successfully manage the scheduling and maintenance of athletic fields, playgrounds, walking paths and gyms which include:

  1. Harold E. Fay Memorial Field/Playground

  5. 9-11 Memorial Field

  6. Choate Field at Woodward School

  7. Neary School
